Atletico Go vs Brasil De Pelotas Predictions

Saturday’s Brazilian Serie B action sees Atletico GO playing host to a struggling Brasil de Pelotas outfit. Both teams won in their most recent outing but it’s Atletico who are fancied to claim the three points in this one.

Having suffered an immediate return to the second tier after an unsuccessful attempt at staying in the top flight last season, it’s fair to say Atletico GO haven’t exactly adapted well to life back in Serie B yet.

Indeed, Cláudio Tencati’s troops have lacked the consistency that will be needed if they are to challenge for promotion, winning, drawing and losing exactly four of their opening 12 matches. Whilst it’s certainly still early days in the campaign, Dragão will want to hit form sooner rather than later and this match certainly looks a good opportunity for them to do exactly that.

That’s because a struggling Brasil de Pelotas side are in town. Xavante managed to finish in the top half last season but if early signs are anything to go by, it looks like being a far longer year for the side this time around.

So poor has Brasil’s start to the season been, that they’ve recently sacked boss Cleber, leaving Gustavo Papa in temporary charge, with the team languishing just above the drop zone. Papa at least ended his men’s run of 4 matches without victory against fellow strugglers Criciuma last time out but looks to have his work cut out ahead of a return to the road, with the side having not won on enemy territory in 9 attempts.

Ultimately this a match Atletico GO have to be winning if they harbour any realistic hopes of challenging for promotion and we think they can secure victory against a poor Brasil de Pelotas side, making backing a home win the way to play.

Atletico have some real firepower in their ranks, evidenced by the fact that they are the league’s joint highest scorers and whilst they are also Serie B’s leakiest team, it’s hard to see them being troubled too greatly by a visiting side that has scored just once in their last 4 away games.

You can never really trust Atletico to keep a clean sheet all the same, and we do think Brasil can get on the scoresheet, but the host’s attacking power should prove the deciding factor in the end, with a 3-1 margin of victory on the cards.
