Atletico Madrid and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have won 19 of their last 21 home La Liga games, drawing the other two while Valencia have lost five of their last 10 away league games and won only two in that spell. Despite their home dominance, Atleti have conceded in eight of 10 La Liga home games this year while Valencia have scored in 8 of 11 aways, which suggests the visitors can score.

Atletico Madrid 3-1

Reason for tip

Atletico have a great home record against Valencia, winning seven of their last eight games in Madrid. Diego Simeone’s men have scored exactly three goals in five of their last six home games against Los Che and also five of their 10 home La Liga games this year, of which three have finished 3-1.

Atletico Madrid vs Valencia Predictions

  • Atletico Madrid have won 19 of their last 21 home La Liga games, drawing the other two
  • Valencia have lost five of their last 10 away league games and won only two in that spell
  • Atleti have conceded in eight of 10 La Liga home games this year while Valencia have scored in 8 of 11 aways

Atleti are always a menace in Madrid

Unbeaten at home in La Liga for over a year, Atletico Madrid can be trusted to take all three points when improving Valencia head to Estadio Civitas Metropolitano on Sunday.

Diego Simeone’s men secured a Copa del Rey semi-final berth with a 1-0 home win over Sevilla in midweek, but this game should be more in keeping with their recent league meetings and see both teams get on the scoresheet.

Colchoneros have conceded in eight of 10 La Liga home games this year and will be hard-pressed to keep Valencia’s in-form forward Hugo Duro quiet for 90 minutes. The 24-year-old bagged his ninth league goal of the campaign in Los Che’s 1-0 home win over fifth-placed Athletic Club last week – doing Atleti a favour in the race for a top-4 finish.

History favours the hosts

Ruben Baraja’s side were awful on their travels earlier this season, but have picked up back-to-back away wins in the past month to rise to seventh in the table.

Atleti have generally had their number in recent years, however, with Simeone’s side winning seven of their last eight Madrid meetings plus a home and away double last season.

Valencia bloodied their noses with a 3-0 win at the Mestalla back in September, but Simeone’s side are sure to want revenge for that and can make home advantage count this weekend.
