Augsburg a potential banana skin for Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund could be four points adrift of Bayern Munich by the time they take on Augsburg on Sunday, in what may be a tougher assignment than it appears on paper.

Augsburg are yet to secure their place in the top flight for next season, although they may be safe before they kick off against Dortmund depending on the results on Saturday.

BVB have struggled on their travels and Augsburg have been good at home, the visitors should still be able to come away with the points but backing both teams to score looks the best option for our main bet.

Augsburg have been strong at home since the winter break with just one defeat in eight games but BVB simply have to win to stay in the title race, irrespective of how Bayern fare on Saturday, and that should provide all the motivation they need to end a six-game winless streak away from home.

Dortmund are in good form as they are unbeaten in six overall, winning four of those games, and they can come away with all three points on Sunday. A 3-1 win for the visitors is the correct score prediction as Dortmund are in fine form in front of goal – having hit 16 goals in total across their last four games.

Dortmund’s Donyell Malen stands out as a potential scorer as he has hit six goals in total across his last six games, failing to score in just one of those fixtures, and he had a goal and two assists in the 5-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach last time out.
