Austria can pile more misery on Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland suffered heartbreak at the hands of Slovakia in Thursday night’s European Championship playoff defeat and things are unlikely to get any better for Ian Baraclough’s men against Austria in the UEFA Nations League.

The Northern Irish have not impressed in the competition so far, losing three and drawing one of their four matches against Austria, Norway and Romania and they look out of their depth in League B.

Austria on the other hand have won their last four matches in all competitions – including a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland at Windsor Park last month.

It could have been worse on that occasion with Austria seeing 57 per cent of the ball and winning the shot count 13-3 and on home soil at the Ernst Happel Stadion, they are worth a bet to win by two goals or more. In terms of a correct score, we predict 2-0 given that Austria have kept three successive clean sheets.
