Avai vs Corinthians Predictions

Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees struggling Avai doing battle with in form Corinthians at the Estádio Aderbal Ramos da Silva. It’s fair to say there only looks like being one winner; and that’s the visitors.

Whilst it was always going to be a big ask for Avai to avoid an immediate return to Serie B, with one of the weakest squads on paper in Serie A, not even the most pessimistic of fans could have envisaged the season going as badly as it has so far. Carille, who lead the club to the title back in 2017 had been coming under pressure earlier on in the year but now has the team 10 matches unbeaten across all competitions, winning 6 times in the process.

Currently 6th in the table, Corinthians will be looking to use Sunday’s game to maintain their upwards momentum and nothing less than 3 points will be considered a good result. Timao are looking defensively strong, having kept a clean sheet in their last 4 games and that leaves it looking unlikely that they’ll be given any real problems by Avai.

Ultimately, this is a match Corinthains have to be winning if they are to finish towards the top end of the season. Man for man, they are stronger than Avai all over the pitch and the hosts have thus far appeared one of the weakest top flight outfits in recent memory in Brazilian football.
