Barcelona and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Barcelona have won their last three meetings with Villarreal and, being 24 points better off than the Yellow Submarine, look set to be too strong for them once more. Although, Barca have conceded ten times in their last five La Liga matches and even conceded twice to basement boys Almeria in their last home match, suggesting Villarreal may net in defeat on Saturday.

Barcelona 3-1

Reason for tip

Villarreal have been extremely leaky at the back on their travels of late, conceding 15 goals in their last five away league matches, and could be breached a fair few times by an in-form Barca attack that has netted eight times in their last three games. However, the Yellow Submarine should score in defeat, just as they did when facing Xavi’s side earlier in the season.

Barcelona vs Villarreal Predictions

  • Barcelona have won eight of their ten home La Liga home matches this season
  • Villarreal have failed to win any of their last five league road games, conceding 15 goals in that run
  • Both teams have scored in Barca’s last five La Liga games and that bet has landed in four of the Yellow Submarine’s last five too

Yellow Submarine set to be sunk again

Villarreal have endured a disappointing season so far, sitting 14th in the table, and their poor run of form that has seen them pick up just two wins in ten league games looks likely to continue against a Barcelona side who are tough to beat at the Olympic Stadium.

Xavi’s men have dealt admirably well with playing their home games away from Camp Nou this term, winning eight of their ten La Liga ‘home’ games this season – with their only losses coming against the league’s top two, Girona and Real Madrid.

That, plus the fact Barcelona won the reverse fixture 4-3, suggests the hosts should be too strong for a Villarreal side that has failed to win any of their last five league away games, conceding 15 times in that run.

Barca bound to be breached again

However, they may not have things all their own way as their defensive issues are likely to shine through once again.

Both teams have scored in Barca’s last five league matches, in a run that has seen goalkeeper Pena beaten ten times, and they could be set to concede against Villarreal, who put three past them earlier in the season.

The Yellow Submarine scored in defeat against all of the other sides in La Liga’s top five alongside Barcelona – namely Girona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao – and the same outcome should be backed on Saturday.
