Barnsley vs Luton Predictions

• Luton Town have lost three of their last five and five of their last nine away trips in the Championship.

Barnsley backed to deliver again at Oakwell

Barnsley bagged their first win under new boss Markus Schopp here at the weekend and The Tykes are fancied to follow up at odds-against when they entertain Luton Town at Oakwell this Tuesday night.

After a decent 1-1 draw at Cardiff City on the opening weekend, Dominik Frieser’s late first half strike proved enough to secure The Tykes victory over Coventry City on Saturday, a result which brought up Barnsley’s tenth home win from 17 starts (D4, L3) stretching back to last season.

The Tykes’ form at Oakwell was key to their top six finish last term and while their performance against the Sky Blues on Saturday was far from perfect, they should take another step forward in midweek against a Luton side who lost 12 of their 23 outings on the road in 2020/21.

The Hatters were far from disgraced in a 3-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, but that did bring up their fifth away Championship defeat in nine.

While Town registered a 0-1 success at this venue last season, it was Barnsley who came out on top 1-2 when the teams last met at Kenilworth Road in April and overall, Markus Schopp’s side look good value here at a shade of odds-against to make it seven points from a possible nine thus far.

The Tykes have struck just once though in five of their last nine matches at Oakwell, so this could be another tight fixture in terms of the score-line and 1-0 is perhaps the most likely score-line for Tuesday’s action in South Yorkshire.
