Bayer Leverkusen and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Bayer Leverkusen have won 11 of 13 home Bundesliga games with both teams scoring in six. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim have lost five of their last seven away league games with BTTS landing in six.  Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men scored two in Freiburg and Wolfsburg while bagging three in Dortmund, so there is a good chance they can get one in a defeat to the invincible league leaders.

Bayer Leverkusen 3-2

Reason for tip

Leverkusen won 3-2 at Hoffenheim earlier this season and 3-2 at Freiburg last time out while the visitors are no strangers to high-scoring games on the road, having lost 3-2 at Freiburg, drawn 2-2 with Wolfsburg and shaded a five-goal thriller in Dortmund recently.

Leverkusen enter the home stretch

Bayer Leverkusen’s bid to become the Bundesliga’s first Invincibles should pass another test when Hoffenheim arrive at BayArena on Saturday afternoon.

Although their results have been consistently good this season, Xabi Alonso’s side peaked in the weeks after the winter break to produce their best sequence of the campaign.

Now, with a 10-point lead at the top, all they have to do is keep going and they will be crowned champions for the first time in their history. Die Werkself are also fighting for the Europa League too with Alonso having done a brilliant job of squad rotation.

Hoffenheim have enough of a threat in attack

Midfield lynchpin Ezequiel Palacios pulled out of international duty because of muscular problems, so may not be fit enough to start this clash with mid-table Hoffenheim.

The visitors are coming off back-to-back defeats against Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart, but did beat Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park not long ago. Pellegrini Matarazzo is expected to return to that blueprint by dropping Wout Weghorst and deploying the pacy Ihlas Bebou in attack alongside top scorer Maximilian Beier with Andre Kramaric just behind.

It brought them three goals in Dortmund and should create enough danger for them to get on the scoresheet in Leverkusen even if the hosts eventually prove to strong. Die Werkself have scored close to 2.8 goals per home game this season and, if pushed by a counter-attacking Hofenheim side, can run out 3-2 winners – just as they did when the sides met earlier this season.
