RB Leipzig Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Bayern have lost their last three games amid uncertainty behind the scenes – coach Thomas Tuchel is leaving a year early and no replacement has yet been found. RB Leipzig are on much more stable gound. The Red Bulls have avoided defeat in three of their last four Bundesliga away matches and not lost any of their last four meetings with Bayern Munich, including two at the Allianz Arena.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Bayern are scoring goals, but conceding too many – as last weekend’s 3-2 loss at Bochum demonstrated. They can be got at again by an exciting Leipzig side with plenty of firepower. But the visitors have conceded two or more goals in five of their last six away games, so a 2-2 draw might be the best they cab manage.

Beleaguered Bayern to face another tough test

The Bundesliga crown slipped further from the Bayern Munich players’ heads at Bochum last week and their title tilt could be all but over if they do not beat RB Leipzig on Sunday.

The pressure has probably never been greater on the champions to churn out a win of any kind as rivals Bayer Leverkusen could be 11 points clear by the time they kick-off at the Allianz Arena. Thomas Tuchel’s summer departure has now been confirmed, but he is only being kept on until then because there is no viable alternative.

Bayern next face an opponent that has become their kryptonite of late with Leipzig lording it over the Bavarians in their last two Munich matchups. Marco Rose’s men strolled to a 3-0 success in the Super Cup back in August, just a few months after hounding Bayern with a 3-1 road win in last season’s race to be the country’s top dogs.

Red Bulls will relish a chance to keep Bayern down

The Red Bulls are fifth in the standings going into this weekend and their record is much stronger at home, but this is a game which they will relish given Bayern’s predicament.

Leipzig can take further encouragement from the fact that they pushed Bayer Leverkusen hard a couple of weeks before Xabi Alonso’s side inflicted the defeat that has possibly done irreparable damage to the champions’ inner belief.

This looks like an opportune time to oppose Bayern again and take the visitors to come away with a win or draw, as they have done on each of the last four times they have met.
