Beijing Guoan vs Hebei Predictions

Having avoided defeat all season long, Beijing Guoan, who’re currently the league leaders, will be hoping to maintain their lofty position by beating Hebei at Workers’ Stadium on Thursday.

After beating their city rivals by no less than four goals to nil in their first home match, Beijing Guoan have not looked back. Thursday’s hosts, who’ve won four and drawn three in front of their own fans this season, are enjoying an excellent campaign. Defensively, they may not have been the sharpest, though they’re scoring plenty of goals, so any defensive mishaps are often atoned for at the other end.

In terms of recent home form, Roger Schmidt’s men have done well, as they approach this fixture after back-to-back wins on their own patch. Having scored three against Henan, before notching a couple against Tianjin, the hosts ought to go into Thursday’s match fancying themselves offensively. However, it’s fair to say that Beijing have been a team who’ll give their opponents a chance at the other end. Thursday’s hosts have conceded in all but one of their seven home matches during the current campaign, conceding a total of 11 goals during that time. Interestingly, only two teams in the entire division have conceded more goals at home than the league leaders.

Hebei aren’t the worst team in this league defensively, though they’re certainly not the best. They’ve tended to concede away from home, shipping at least once in five of their seven away matches, which means that keeping out an offensively strong Beijing side may be tough. However, the visitors should back themselves to do some damage at the other end, as worse teams than them have broke through against Guoan’s rather dodgy back-line in recent times.

Going forward, Hebei haven’t always thrived this season, though they have done well against teams who like to get forward. Thursday’s visitors have notched away against Guangzhou Evergrande, Shanghai Shenhua and Tianjin Quanjian, and having done so, Chris Coleman’s men should fancy goals on this occasion.

From a defensive point of view, having kept a total of just three clean sheets in their combined 14 respective home and away matches this season, it’s fair to say that neither have covered themselves in defensive glory. What’s more, they’re both capable of impressing in the final third; the hosts have scored in 100% of their home matches, while the visitors have only failed to score in five of their seven on the road. All in all, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’, a bet which has yielded a profit in each of Beijing Guaon’s last five home matches, is the way to go.
