Belarus vs Germany Predictions

Germany continue to crawl their way back to the top of the international game, with the 2014 World Cup winners in action on Saturday. They head to Belarus this weekend aiming to pick up a second win in their qualifying group, following success against the Netherlands last time out. The Germans are basically set for the Euros after that success, but can they build on it with another strong performance in this trip?

The hosts weren’t quite as successful in their opening games, with two defeats from two in qualifying to date. Given that they meet Germany and Northern Ireland in the coming days, it could be four games without a win for Belarus. They were hit for four against the Dutch before their brave resistance at Windsor Park was broken in a 2-1 defeat in Belfast. Will they fare any better against one of the biggest nations in world football?

Germany marked their comeback on the international stage with their 3-2 win over the Dutch. Their victory in that clash helped to restore some pride for this team. They were able to take the first step towards the Euros, following their disastrous Nations League campaign. Germany were relegated from the top tier of the new competition in the Autumn, after taking just two points from their four games. They’ve already beaten that tally after one game in this qualifying group, but can they double their points total on Saturday night?

The Germans are obviously heavy favourites to see off Belarus, especially given how they bounced back into form. They won 3-2 against the Netherlands back in March, which showed that the new look Germany setup maintains a real goal threat. That’s vital, because their defence is questionable. The Germans have kept one clean sheet in their last seven, which isn’t something you’d expect from a squad of this standard.

Belarus were hammered 4-0 by Holland before losing 2-1 against Northern Ireland. Given how Germany are looking in attack, we expect them to rack up goals of their own here. The Germans have scored nine times in their last four matches, while they’re now facing one of the group’s weakest sides. With that in mind, we’re going for Germany to win with over 2.5 goals in the game.
