      Belarus vs Luxembourg Predictions

Last months goalless draw in Moldova saw Belarus drop down to second place in League D Group 2, while Friday’s guests Luxembourg maintained their 100% start to the UEFA Nations League courtesy of their 3-0 win in San Marino. Neither Belarus nor Luxembourg have conceded a goal in their opening two Nations League matches, so we’re expecting a tight and tense game between the pair on Friday.

Belarus may feel as if they did enough last month in Moldova to have picked up all three points, as they edged the possession with 52%, had three times as many shots on target as their hosts, as well as seven corners to Moldova’s four.

However, the first half ended goalless and even with both teams making three changes during the second forty-five,neither were able to produce a winning goal. Belarus have four points from their opening two Nations League matches and are yet to concede a goal, so there are plenty of positives to take, despite not beating Moldova.

The Belarus squad has plenty of experience despite some of the more regular names missing out on this months selection, and if striker Anton Saroka can continue his strike rate of a goal every other game, then Belarus will be in the mix for promotion in the Nations League.

Europe’s whipping boys San Marino were on the end of a 3-0 defeat at home to Luxembourg last month. Chanot opened the scoring for the visitors in the ninth minute and just before the break Joachim doubled Luxembourg’s advantage. Early in the second half Sinani made it 3-0, but from that point on Luxembourg appeared to take their foot off the gas and no further goals were scored.

Aurélien Joachim will lead the way for Luxembourg on Friday, hoping to add to his fifteen international goals in seventy-five appearances. Daniel da Mota provides the visitors other main goal scoring threat with seven goals in eighty-eight appearances, but with both players in their early thirties now, Luxembourg need to find a new striker to carry them forward over the next year or two.

We’re confident that Friday’s game will feature under 2.5 goals and end in a goalless draw. Nine of the ten meetings between Belarus and Luxembourg have produced under 2.5 goals. Five of Belarus’ last six international matches have produced under 2.5 goals, while three of Luxembourg’s last six international matches have produced under 2.5 goals. Belarus have kept four clean sheets in their last six matches, and Luxembourg have kept five clean sheets in their last six matches.
