Belenenses vs Feirense Predictions

Belenenses remain seventh in the Primeira Liga table despite going on a poor run of form in recent weeks, but have slipped eight points behind Moreirense in the race for the European places. Victory over Braga last time out is bound to have given the hosts a huge confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s match, with Feirense entering the game on the back of five straight defeats.

Not many would have been expecting Belenenses to pull off the result they did last time out against high flying Braga, where Kikas’s goal late in the first half handed Belenenses the lead against the run of play. The visitors certainly had luck on their side that day and when Licá made it 2-0 on the hour mark it ended any hopes Braga had of turning this game in their favour. Belenenses’ rivals for fifth spot, Moreirense, beat Feirense 3-1 in their own backyard and we’re three goals up inside forty-six minutes. Briseño pulled a goal back for the hosts in the fifty-third minute, but Feirense failed to add to their tally a suffered yet another defeat in the league.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and the form of the visitors heading into Sunday’s match all points towards a home win for Belenenses with both teams to score. The hosts have won three of the last six meetings between the two clubs, and both teams have scored in four of their last seven encounters. Feirense have lost each of their last five matches, and on three occasions both teams have scored, while Belenenses ended their winless run by beating high flying Braga last weekend. The hosts have outperformed their guests in every department this season and with the visitors in the midst of a losing streak and Belenenses picking up that excellent result last time out its hard to see this game ending in anything but a home win.

Fredy and Licá joint top score for the hosts with six league goals this season, while Edinho remains on four Primeira Liga goals for Feirense and continues to top score for the visitors. We’re confident that Belenenses will win on Sunday, and have backed a final scoreline of 3-1. The hosts are bound to be buoyed by the victory over Braga and have a good recent record against Feirense. The visitors have lost their last five, sit bottom of the table, and look surefire to be relegated this season.
