Besiktas vs Erzurum BB Predictions

Besiktas sit sixth in the Super Lig table after beating Akhisarspor last time out and a win at home on Friday night against Erzurum would move them back into the European places. The visitors were only founded in 2005 and are finding their first ever Super Lig season tough, but a win against Besiktas would lift Erzurum out of the relegation place for at least twenty-four hours.

A twenty-third minute strike from Toköz saw Besiktas take the lead away at Akhisarspor, after good work from Ljajić who claimed an assist. That goal proved enough to separate the two clubs at the break, but just three minutes into the second half, Gönül doubled the visitors lead. Besiktas ended any hopes of a late revival from their hosts with a third goal in the seventy-sixth minute from Canadian striker Larin. Cikalleshi did manage to score a consolation goal for the hosts with nine minutes left on the clock, which was the least Akhisarspor’s performance deserved.

Despite dominating the ninety minutes at home against Konyaspor, Erzurum’s wastefulness in front of goal allowed their guests an important three points in their quest for European football. Against the run of play Konyaspor took the lead through Şahiner, seconds before the halftime whistle. The hosts came out fighting in the second forty-five minutes, but once again their failure to convert chances cost them dearly, as Findikli put Konyaspor 2-0 up in the fifty-seventh minute. Erzurum responded well and just two minutes after going two goals down, Antalyalı made it 2-1, but even with half an hour remaining the hosts could not carve out an equaliser and lost a game they probably should have won.

Besiktas have not had their most consistent of Super Lig seasons and currently find themselves sixth in the table, but it’s very close at the top and a big win could see Friday’s hosts more as high as second in the table behind Istanbul Basaksehir. The reverse fixture between Besiktas and Erzurum ended 3-1 to the Turkish giants, and with Besiktas’ last three games producing over 2.5 goals, we’re expecting at least three goals to be scored on Friday. Four of Erzurum’s last six matches have also produced over 2.5 goals and with the visitors sitting in the relegation zone and having never played at the Vodafone Stadyumu we believe the moment could get to the minnows and fully expect a comfortable victory for Besiktas.

Pektemek top scores for the hosts with five Super Lig goals this season, while teammate Vágner Love is the next highest scorer with three goals, following the departures of Pepe and Babel who had contributed seven goals in the league before leaving the clubs in the January transfer window. Antalyalı leads the way in front of goal for the visitors with four goals in the league, with Ščuk chipping in with three goals so far. With two wins, two draws, and two defeats Besiktas are hardly in the midst of a great run of form, but the hosts head into Friday’s match as the form favourites.

We’re confident that Besiktas will win and that over 2.5 goals will be scored in the process of Friday’s game, and have backed a final score of 3-0. Erzurum have struggled in their first Super Lig season and look set for the relegation battle many expected them to be embroiled in before the season began, and having never played at this intimidating stadium, we can’t see this game ending in anything but a win for Besiktas. Besiktas scored three goals against their opponents in the reverse fixture back in August and the visitors head into Friday’s game without a win in their last five matches.
