Sheffield United

Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Birmingham have had another underwhelming season in the Championship and St Andrew’s has not been a great stage of entertainment lately so with Sheffield United already promoted, there may not be a lot of impetus in this one.

Sheffield United 1-0

Reason for tip

The Blades have lost at Burnley and Huddersfield in their last two away games, but they should have enough to win here. The only issue is that they have scored more than once in just two of their last nine away games, but one may just be enough.

Birmingham vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Birmingham’s last seven home matches have all featured fewer than three goals.
  • Sheffield United have lost their last two away matches.
  • Just one of the Blades’ last 15 away games have featured more than 3.5 goals.

Blades easing their way to the end of the campaign

The hard work has been done for Sheffield United as they will be back in the Premier League next season, but there was little evidence in their defeat to Huddersfield on Thursday that they are intent on going out with a bang.

Thoughts will inevitably be turning to being back among the big boys but they have failed to find the net in their last two away matches in the second tier, so it won’t be a surprise if manager Paul Heckingbottom demanded more at St Andrew’s.

They may not need much to achieve that and the fact there hasn’t been a Birmingham home game with more than two goals in the Blues’ last seven outings suggests we are not set for a final-day thriller, so under 2.5 goals looks a sensible bet.

Goals have been an issue for Blues

With safety secured a while ago and no danger of the Blues getting into the playoff picture, it seems as if Birmingham have been going through the motions a bit over the last few weeks.

The home fans have had little to celebrate recently – they lost to a team who have subsequently been relegated, Blackpool, in their last game and they have failed to find the net in four of their last six St Andrew’s games.

United are clearly a superior team and it may only take a single strike to get the job done, so a 1-0 away win looks a sensible correct-score prediction.
