BK Hacken vs IFK Goteborg Predictions

The Gothenburg derby takes place this Saturday in the Allsvenskan. It tends to be a relatively even affair which only adds to the spice with both sides victorious in their home fixtures last term. With both Hacken and Goteborg currently riding high in the top four, it’s a really big game even aside from the local rivalry and it certainly feels like the standout fixture this weekend in Sweden.

Hacken were much the stronger of these sides last term. They achieved a creditable 5th place finish and appear to be building on that nicely. They are just one point off leaders Malmo heading into the weekend action and were involved in a dramatic 4-3 win over Sirius last time out to ensure their strong start to the campaign continued.

As for Goteborg, they are traditionally the biggest team in this city. They’ve won the Allsvenskan 18 times while Hacken are yet to break their duck but in recent years Goteborg have turned into the poor relation. They’ve not won the title in 12 years and only finished a few points above the drop-zone last term. However they appear to be making plenty of strides forward now under the management of Poya Asbaghi.

Their progress have been checked slightly by home draws in their last two games though and overall the hosts look the more likely winners here. Hacken have fired 4 past Goteborg in each of their last two home derby clashes and that can only give them confidence heading into this match although they will anticipate a tougher game this time around.

Hacken have also kept 3 straight home clean sheets heading into this game, winning the lot. Goteborg may have won their last two on the road but those were both against sides in mid-table or below and this will be much tougher. They will do well to ask any major questions of a Hacken side that have only conceded 0.4 goals per home game so far this term and backing Hacken to Win looks the smart bet as they aim to extend their recent dominance in this fixture on home soil.

If you fancy a goalscorer bet, consider going for Alexander Jeremejeff to score anytime. The 25 year old has impressed since joining from Malmo last season and has scored in 3 of his last 4 appearances.
