Portugal’s dominant force can start strongly

Roger Schmidt’s side were devastating at home and clinical away, where they won 13 of their 17 away trips and conceded only eight goals.

Eleven of those 13 away wins were capped off with a clean sheet and that defensive discipline was evident in Wednesday’s win over Porto, who managed only two shots on target.

If anything, summer signings Orkun Kokcu, Arthur Cabral and Angel Di Maria could mean they become only more dominant.

That spells trouble for the rest in the title race and should especially be of concern to Boavista, who have lost nine of their last 12 rivalries with Benfica.
