Boavista vs Feirense Predictions

Two of the Primeira Liga’s bottom three clubs face-off on Saturday, where Boavista will be aiming to open up a five point gap between themselves and Feirense and hopefully move back out of the relegation zone. The form of both sides has been very poor of late, but each will view Saturday’s game as their best opportunity to return to winning ways.

Boavista might have lost the majority of their league games this season, but they rarely get heavily beaten, thanks to a defence that has conceded fewer goals than any of the bottom six clubs and three of the top ten. However, when they travelled to Lisbon on Tuesday, Benfica scored five times on their way to three points. The visitors found themselves 2-0 down inside the opening half an hour, but responded with a goal of their own before the break from Talocha. However, a disappointing collapse by Boavista saw Seferović score twice as Benfica wrapped up a 5-1 win.

On Monday night Feirense were beaten narrowly at home by European hopefuls Vitoria Guimaraes, and on the balance of play the hosts might feel aggrieved not to have shared the spoils. Tozé opened the scoring for the visitors in the fifth minute, but the teams looked like they would go in level at the break when Sampaio equalised in the forty-fifth minute. However, another Tozé strike in first half stoppage time saw Vitoria Guimaraes lead at the halftime interval. Both teams created chances to score in the second half, but the scoreline remained 2-1 and Guimaraes moved back into fifth spot.

Despite the fact they have lost five of their last six matches, we’re backing Boavista to return to winning ways this weekend in their relegation six-pointer against Feirense. The hosts have won three of the last five encounters between the pair, including a friendly in the summer of 2017, and have secured ten of their sixteen points this season in their own backyard. Boavista have lost five games at home in the league so far this season, but two of those include games against Porto and Benfica, as well as another against European hopefuls Portimonense. With just one victory on the road in the Primeira Liga, Feirense have been poor away from home and head into Saturday’s game without a win in their last eight matches in all competitions.

Neither of these teams score many goals, with Boavista’s joint top scorers in the league all on just two goals apiece, while Feirense’s top scorer Edinho has scored four times in the Primeira Liga so far, two of which have been from the penalty spot. We’re confident that Boavista will win, and that the final scoreline will end 1-0. These two clubs are the lowest scorers in the league and both have failed to score in three of their last six matches, but with the home advantage, we’re backing Boavista to do just enough to claim a huge three points.
