Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Nine of Juventus’ last 10 games – including each of their last five – have contained under 2.5 goals. The Bianconeri are not worth backing for victory amid a four-match winless run, while Bologna have only conceded once in their last four home games, seeing under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last eight matches overall.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Bologna have earned results against both Milan clubs and Lazio in their last eight games, while Juventus have failed to score multiple goals in any of their last nine. With Allegri struggling to get the Bianconeri firing, a Rossoblu side unbeaten in their last four at home could snatch a result.

Bologna vs Juventus Predictions

  • Nine of Juventus’ last 10 games – including each of their last five – have contained under 2.5 goals.
  • After a run of four games without a win in all competitions, the inconsistent Bianconeri do not appear worth backing on the result markets.
  • Five of the last eight matches to feature Bologna have contained under 2.5 goals.

Allegri loses it as Juve downturn continues

A furious Massimiliano Allegri flew into an astonishing rant after Juventus’ bid to reach the Coppa Italia final fell flat in midweek, with Inter Milan’s 2-1 aggregate semi-final triumph over their Derby d’Italia rivals shutting off one potential route to silverware. Allegri needs to rediscover his composure – and quickly. Juventus have gone four games without a win in all competitions, and despite their 15-point deduction being temporarily lifted, they face a fierce battle to finish in Serie A’s top four. Next up is a trip to in-form Bologna.

The one thing that has remained consistent in Turin this term is a lack of entertainment. Nine of the last 10 games to feature Juventus have contained a maximum of two goals, with Allegri seemingly incapable of getting the best of a talented Bianconeri frontline. Striker Dusan Vlahovic has now failed to net in his last eight club appearances, with Juve failing to score multiple goals in any of their last nine matches. Juve’s record of just 26 goals conceded in Serie A this term is only bettered by Napoli and Lazio (both 21), but with just a three-point lead over those outside the top four, more attacking verve may be required.

Juventus did hammer Bologna 3-0 when they last met the Rossoblu back in October, but much has changed for Thiago Motta’s men since then. Bologna have only lost two of their last nine games (W4 D3), picking up results against both Milan clubs and Lazio during that run. Five of the last eight matches played by Motta’s men have contained under 2.5 goals, and they have recorded three clean sheets in their last four home games – so Juve should face a real test on Sunday.

Under 2.5 goals the safest play

It’s difficult to know which iteration of Juventus will turn up each week, but at present, the only certainty is that they won’t be free-flowing in attack. Bologna have only conceded once in their last four home games – a stunner from AC Milan’s Tommaso Pobega – and they may be able to frustrate the visitors here.

While under 2.5 match goals is our main selection, a 1-1 draw could represent a solid correct score prediction, denting Juve’s hopes of Champions League qualification.
