      Bolton vs Nottingham Forest Predictions

Bolton’s slide down the Championship table wasn’t helped at the weekend as the struggling Rotherham managed to hold them to a 1-1 draw, although things could have been worse for The Trotters were it not for Christian Doidge. He netted a late equaliser off the bench to salvage a point from an otherwise poor performance, and now they will be looking to build on that late drama.

Things don’t look particularly promising for Bolton though. They have won just once since the end of August, with 1 win, 3 draws, and 5 defeats coming in their last 9 matches in the Championship.

They don’t look much better at the Macron Stadium either, where they have won just twice in the league this season. 3 of their last 4 there have ended in defeat, and unsurprisingly they find themselves consistently falling down the table. Now, 14 games into the campaign, they are 18th in the Championship and just 6 points above the drop zone.

For Nottingham Forest, this is something of an opportunity. Unfortunately for them, they did suffer a bit of a dip in confidence at the weekend as they were resigned to their first defeat since the start of September. Their 2-1 loss at home to Norwich came despite them having taken a 5th minute lead, but while that will have been a devastatingly disappointing capitulation they can at least look back on some good form before that.

Forest’s defeat to Norwich came after an impressive 6 match unbeaten run in the Championship, and they have only actually lost twice in the league this season. Despite this, they still find themselves in the mid-table section of the ladder, simply due to their inability to consistently win matches.

They have drawn over half of their Championship outings this season, with their 7 draws only beaten by Birmingham’s 8 stalemates in 14 games. Away from home they have seen the scores end all square in 4 of their 6 games, so even against an out of form side such as Bolton it’s unlikely that the travelling fans are getting their hopes up.

One thing we can hope for is goals. Bolton have only kept 2 clean sheets at home this season, and they’re facing a Forest side who have scored in all but 1 of their trips away. Forest have only kept 2 clean sheets as well though, so for this reason we like the look of Both Teams to Score. For obvious reasons, we’re also backing a 1-1 draw for our correct score predictions.
