Back Bordeaux to prevail on home turf

Montpellier stopped the rot of four games without a win when overcoming St Etienne 1-0 last weekend but they may suffer another setback at happy hosts Bordeaux.

Bordeaux are inconsistent but they tend to deliver when armed with home advantage and they are unbeaten in five Ligue 1 games at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, winning each of the last twice.

Jean-Louis Gasset’s men have proved defensively reliable on their own patch, keeping clean sheets in all five of their league fixtures against Nantes, Lyon, Nice, Dijon and Nimes.

Montpellier were 1-0 winners at St Etienne last time out but prior to that they had failed to win in four games, which includes disappointing home defeats against Nimes (1-0) and Reims (4-0).

Given Bordeaux’s defensive discipline on home soil, they look a good bet but punters should take the draw no bet option given they have shared the spoils in three of their five home duels.

We predict Bordeaux to prevail, with 2-0 the preferred scoreline. The hosts have recorded two of their three Ligue 1 wins this season by that margin, while they were also 2-0 up against Dijon until an 89th-minute strike from Tomas Basic extended their lead to three.
