      Bordeaux vs Toulouse Predictions

The Girondins really gave Paris a good game last week to backup their 2-2 draw they got against the champions in December. Bordeaux managed to match PSG in terms of shots on target and almost got a point if it hadn’t been for Edinson Cavani’s penalty but unfortunately for the Girondins it was another match where they came so close but failed to pick up the win.

Bordeaux have lost six of their last nine games but each of these losses have been by just a one goal margin. They have been very good at restricting the larger sides in the league but very rarely get points against the tougher teams. They have been slightly more impressive in professional performances against the likes of Dijon (1-0) and Angers (2-1) but have lost each of their last five games against top-ten opposition. Ten of Bordeaux’s last twelve games have seen under 2.5 goals but they are very rarely on the winning sides of these games.

Toulouse have only lost two of their last seven games in all competitions but these defeats have come in their last three matches. Toulouse managed to get a solid draw at the weekend though against 10th placed Reims. Les Violets had the vast majority of possession and really gave Reims a good game but they need to aim to make more of the ball in future.

They currently sit 14th in the league but should really be further up the table as they slipped up against Monaco and Angers recently. Both sides are threatened by relegation but Toulouse could only manage a draw and a loss in these games, surrendering five points which would have seen them rise to 12th. Toulouse have only scored three goals in their last four matches which isn’t great and if they don’t manage to put together some wins, they could fall into the drop zone as many sides in the bottom portion of the table are on better form than Toulouse.

This match will see two teams in pretty horrid form do battle but we think the home team stand in better stead ahead of the game. Bordeaux have only lost one of their last nine home games while Toulouse have lost five of their last nine on the road. Bordeaux have also been much better against teams in the bottom half of the table; they are unbeaten in their last ten games against the current bottom ten teams (W6+D4). Toulouse did manage to beat Bordeaux when they last met in August but this was when the Girondins were right in the middle of their managerial drama with the sacking of Gus Poyet so we think the home side should get the win here. Each of Bordeaux’s last 13 matches have been decided by a one goal margin and with ten of their last twelve seeing under 2.5 goals, we’re backing a 1-0 win for Bordeaux.
