Borussia Dortmund vs Paderborn Predictions

Dortmund suffered defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the fixture dubbed ‘Der Klassiker’ before the international break. The break may have come at just the right time for Dortmund to regroup and put that loss behind them. They will have a good opportunity to bounce back this Friday evening against Paderborn.

Newly promoted Paderborn have not particularly been enjoying their return to the Bundesliga up to this point. They currently sit at the bottom of the table, having accumulated just four points from 11 games.

Paderborn’s poor Bundesliga away form has unquestionably contributed to their disappointing start to the season. They will be going into Friday’s game having earned just one point from their previous five Bundesliga away games. Having failed to win a single game as of this game week, they have got the Bundesliga’s poorest away record.

Poor away form isn’t something any Bundesliga side will want to be taking to Signal Iduna Park this season. Dortmund are one of only two teams who are yet to taste defeat at home in the Bundesliga. They have won four of their five Bundesliga home games, drawing the other.

Furthermore, no team in Europe have been able to overcome Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park yet this season. They are undefeated in all eight of their home games in all competitions, winning six. Dortmund currently sit in sixth place in the table. However, life is tight at the top of the Bundesliga at present. They are currently just two points away from second-placed RB Leipzig.

They will be hoping to get back to winning ways and keep the pressure on their rivals. Dortmund’s loss to Bayern last time out is their only loss in their last eight Bundesliga games. We believe they are likely to put any talk of a slip in form firmly to rest in Friday’s fixture. Dortmund have got the best home defensive record in the Bundesliga this season. They have impressively conceded just three goals at Signal Iduna Park, while they’ve scored 15. Dortmund have conceded at least two fewer goals than any other Bundesliga side.

This doesn’t bode well for a Paderborn team who have been particularly struggling for goals away from home this season. No Bundesliga side have scored fewer away goals than Paderborn. Furthermore, Paderborn have failed to score in four of their last five competitive games.

We feel Dortmund are likely to get back to winning ways in dominant style in this game, so we are backing Dortmund to win to nil in Friday’s fixture. Dortmund have scored at least two goals in 21 of their last 22 Bundesliga home games. Meanwhile, Paderborn have conceded at least two goals in each of their last three Bundesliga games.

Dortmund have scored over 2.5 goals in four of their eight home games in all competitions. We predict they will do this again in Friday’s clash with struggling Paderborn. We are backing a 3-0 win for Dortmund in this game.
