Bosnia vs Armenia Predictions

Bosnia open their Euro 2022 campaign with two home games on the bounce against this weekend’s opponents Armenia and Greece on Tuesday so will be determined to get off to a good start. They haven’t played an International fixture since they lost 1-0 to Spain in a friendly back in November. They had an excellent Nations League campaign winning three of their four games and drawing the other in a tough group which consisted of themselves, Austria and Northern Ireland to see them promoted to League A for the next edition.

After this weekend’s game Armenia have two home games against Finland and Liechtenstein which they will see as both winnable games so their goal here will be to try and come away with at least a point from Bosnia and that would set them up nicely in the group. With the top 2 going through and Italy in their group it looks like a fight between Bosnia, Armenia and Greece for the 2nd qualification spot and although it’s only game week one, this could be a massive game in terms of deciding who goes through.

As aforementioned, Bosnia had an excellent Nations League campaign and that was due to their home form. They won both of their games, beating Austria 1-0 and Northern Ireland 2-0. The key to their team is their front man Edin Dzeko, he scored all 3 of their home Nations League goals and has 54 goals in 97 appearances for the National team, which is a very impressive record. In their previous qualification campaign they just missed out qualifying for the 2018 World Cup to Greece who are their main rivals in their 2020 Euro Qualification group. They were impressive at home in the group, beating Estonia, Cyprus and Gibraltar all to nil whilst drawing 0-0 to Greece and only losing 4-3 to Belgium.

Armenia finished their Nations League campaign strong with a 4-0 thrashing over group winners Macedonia, a 6-2 thrashing of Gibraltar and a 2-2 away draw against Liechtenstein in their final game, although they knew before that game that they don’t have a chance of promotion. Their star player Henrikh Mkhitaryan has just returned from injury and has scored 6 goals in 18 appearances in the Premier League this season for Arsenal, Armenia will need Henrikh to be on top form and keep fit if they have a chance of making the Euro’s in 2020.

Bosnia come into this game as the odds on favourites, which is fair considering their home form in the Nations League and World Cup Qualifying campaign. Armenia are pretty poor on the road on the whole and with Bosnia keeping a clean sheet in 7 of their last 8 home games, we think they will do the same here. On that basis we are taking Bosnia to win to nil as our main tip. On the correct score front Armenia generally keep it quite tight and Bosnia aren’t a free scoring nation so we think this will end 2-0 Bosnia.
