Bradford vs Oldham Predictions

With the new season now well under way, we have a good understanding of which sides are the ones to watch and which ones have it all to do if they are to accomplish their goals. This weekend sees a Bradford City side who will be frustrated by their slow start to the campaign take on an Oldham Athletic side who will be determined to get their first league win of the season under their belt.

Bradford City have been largely tipped as the side to watch in League Two as many people, including us, believed they had the capability to bounce back up to League One at the first opportunity following their relegation in the last campaign. However, a slow start to the campaign which has seen them draw their opening two league games has been compounded by a heavy 4-0 loss to Championship side Preston North End in the Carabao Cup midweek. A major reason for their struggles has been their inability to find the back of the net on a regular basis and that shut-out on Tuesday night means that they have managed just one goal in their opening three matches.

Making the trip to Valley Parade is another side who will have hoped for a lot more before a ball was kicked is Oldham Athletic as they have lost both of their matches in the league and also lost in the Cup in midweek. Unlike their hosts, however, their problem has been keeping the ball out of the back of the net and their four matches so far has seen them concede eight goals.

Whilst the visitors may be struggling defensively, they have been pretty free-scoring at the other end of the pitch and are averaging just short of two goals per game so far this season. With the hosts struggling in front of goal and a head to head record which favours Oldham, especially of late, we think the odds of an upset are quite high. However, the hosts are the title favourites for a reason and surely it is just a matter of time before they get their act together. With this in mind, we are proceeding with caution and using the healthy odds on offer. In our opinion, the best value is found in backing Oldham Athletic to either win or draw in the double chance market.
