Bradford 2-1 @ 9/1

Reason For Bradford vs Walsall Betting Tips

Bradford must be wondering what it is they need do to come out on top. They scored three goals on their travels last weekend, but victory was not theirs, while they notched four at home to Peterborough in the FA Cup on Tuesday night, but still they did not get the desired result. Such attacking efforts are positive, though if David Hopkin’s men are going to regain the winning thread any time soon, then they need to tighten up at the back.

Bradford will be disappointed that they’ve gone the last week without winning, but they will be uplifted by the fact that they’re now doing much, much more in the final third. For a while, David Hopkin’s men were struggling to get serious in the final third, but they’ve found their feet going forward of late, so much so that it wouldn’t be a surprise if results turned sooner rather than later.

The Bantams won their last home match, so they ought to back themselves ahead of this fixture. What’s more, each of their last two attacking efforts on home soil have been encouraging. They scored twice and clocked 1.65 expected goals for against Oxford when last in action at Valley Parade, while they recorded an impressive 1.7 against the league leaders prior to that. If they can match either of those two efforts against a defensively weak Walsall side, then it would be no surprise whatsoever if their fine scoring form continued.

While Bradford have upped their productivity in the final third of late, Walsall have continued to look weak at the back, especially on their travels. Dean Keates’ men did spring a surprise by keeping a clean sheet away against Sunderland in the FA Cup during the week, but in the league, they’ve looked easy to get at.

The Saddlers conceded two goals and a host of chances away at Portsmouth last time out, while they created very little at the other end. They also gave more away than they created in their previous away match against Fleetwood. What’s more, Keates’ men have shipped 2.0+ expected goals in three of their last four travelling games, which tells us that they concede plenty of scoring opportunities, as does the fact that they’ve surrendered an average of 2.15 on the road this season.

Given that they have certainly improved offensively of late, coupled with the fact that Walsall have been struggling to keep things tight on their travels, ‘Bradford to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ looks a tad too big in the early betting. After their recent performances, against a Walsall side that has shipped two or more goals in three of their last five on the road, backing the hosts to notch a couple ahead of Saturday’s game makes sense.

Head to Head

Bradford have a positive recent record in this fixture, as they’re now unbeaten in five against Walsall. The pair have drawn each of the last two renewals, but Bradford have won two of their last three home matches against the Saddlers.

Bradford Team News

Bradford Team Badge Bradford continue to be without Sean Scannell, though manager David Hopkin has an otherwise fully fit squad to select from.

Walsall Team News

Walsall Team Badge Joe Edwards is out for Walsall, as areKory Roberts and Adam Chambers. The Saddlers have no fresh injury problems. Andy Cook returns from suspension.
