Brann vs Stabaek Predictions

Brann have a midweek Europa League qualifier to negotiate before they can turn their full attention onto Sunday’s home game against Stabaek, but having outplayed their guests so far this season the hosts head into the match as the bookmakers’ favourites.

Despite a dominating display in which Brann created nine goalscoring attempts, had ten corners, and 64& of the overall possession, they only managed a draw at home to Mjondalen. The visitors were restricted to just two shots during the ninety minutes but still managed to shut out Brann and the game somehow ended goalless.

Stabaek and Sarpsborg produced a six-goal thriller last time out at the Nadderud Stadion where the visitors raced into a two-goal lead, but Boli managed to pull a goal back for Stabaek in the forty-first minute. Early in the second half, Sarpsborg restored their two-goal lead but an impressive fightback saw Vihmann equalise in the sixty-eighth minute and Bohinen score a dramatic stoppage-time winner for Stabaek with virtually the last kick of the match.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and the form and performances of both teams over the last month or so, all point towards under 2.5 goals being scored on Sunday and Brann pinching all three points. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in four of the last seven meetings between these two clubs and Brann have won five of the pairs last seven encounters. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Brann’s last five and three of Stabaek’s last six matches. Brann are unbeaten in their last three home games and Stabaek have lost two of their last three on the road, which is why we’re backing a 1-0 win for the hosts this weekend.

Wormgoor top scores for Brann this season with four goals in the Eliteserien, while Boli leads the way for Stabaek with five league goals to his name. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored in Sunday’s match and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0 in favour of Brann. The hosts have outplayed Stabaek so far this season and have a very good recent record against them, but having played European football in midweek we are fully expecting a tight and tense game between the pair.
