Millwall could frustrate the Bees

A series of draws have done serious damage to Brentford’s automatic promotion challenge and although they remain in the pole playoff position, the Bees look too short to master Millwall.

Brentford were back on song as they thumped Preston 5-0 last weekend, but they had played out four consecutive draws prior to that against Derby, Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield and Birmingham.

In fact, The Bees have drawn 13 of their 40 league games this season, with only Saturday’s visitors Millwall sharing the points more frequently.

The Lions are the Championship’s draw specialists with 16 stalemates from 41 games, one of which came in the reverse fixture with Brentford at The Den which ended 1-1.

Gary Rowett’s side should be full of confidence having won three of their last four league fixtures and just four defeats in 18 games shows how resilient the Lions can be.

Given Millwall’s fixtures are averaging only 1.98 goals per game and they are likely to sit deep in order to frustrate their classier opponents, we predict a low-scoring encounter.

That makes the draw a more likely outcome and we are predicting it to end 1-1, just as it did when these two locked horns in September. Nine of Millwall’s 16 draws have ended that way.
