Brighton vs Milton Keynes Dons Predictions

Brighton are looking very well placed to finally secure promotion to the Premier League this term and the FA Cup won’t be a massive priority. They will most likely rotate their side a bit here but they do have enough strength in depth to do that and still win this game against a fairly unconvincing MK Dons side who are fighting against back-to-back relegations.

Almost everything about Brighton under Chris Hughton has been impressive. They come into this game unbeaten in 16 matches, winning 12 of them, including all of their last 5. Their home record this term is hugely impressive and their defence has been almost impossible to breach. The Seagulls have kept clean sheets in 67% of their home Championship matches and they boast the best overall defensive record in the division.

Any changes may make them a bit more vulnerable at the back here but it’s still going to be hard to see MK Dons creating that many chances. They recently appointed Robbie Neilson as their new boss and have achieved mixed results in truth so far under the former Hearts boss, although they look at the very least capable of steering clear of relegation. The Dons have only scored 1 goal in their last 4 away games in all competitions so they are struggling a bit in the final third right now and it’s hard to see them being that bold in a game as tough as this.

Both teams have scored in only 25% of Brighton’s home games this season and with League One opposition visiting it’s a bit of a surprise to see how short the odds are for both teams to net here. The Seagulls had one of their festive games postponed and have a week off following this one so there is no reason why they should rest their entire starting eleven. One man who may be given a break is veteran striker Glenn Murray, who is their main goal threat and perhaps the one man they can’t afford to lose to injury. That will offer MK Dons a glimmer of hope but it’s hard to see them posing much threat of their own and backing Both Teams to Score – NO at 11/10 looks a solid bet here.
