Sheffield United 2-1

Reason for tip

Bristol City have been pretty poor at home lately, winning just one of their last five at Ashton Gate, a run that includes two 2-1 defeats. Sheffield United meanwhile have already won four times on the road this season, scoring at least twice on four occasions

Bristol City vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Four of Bristol City’s last five home games have seen both teams score
  • Both teams have netted in four of Sheffield United’s last seven outings
  • City have only managed one win in their last five outings at Ashton Gate

City searching for home form

It’s not been a great run on home soil for Bristol City, who have registered two draws and two defeats from their last five outings, four of which have seen both teams net.

Nigel Pearson’s side, who sit in 14th place in the Championship, in fact have one of the worst defences in the division, already conceding 27 times in 17 outings.

They drew 1-1 with Swansea at Ashton Gate on Saturday and have now only kept two clean sheets in their last eleven outings.

Have United turned a corner?

Sheffield United will hope their 2-0 victory at West Brom on Saturday signals a return to form after a run of six games that had seen them tumble off top spot in the Championship.

Four of those seven outings have seen both teams score, including a 3-1 loss at Stoke last month, while they have in fact netted in eight successive matches on their travels.

Indeed, Paul Heckingbottom’s side are usually strong on the road, boasting the joint-most away victories (four) so far this season.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, but I think the Blades have begun to turn the corner, so predict 2-1 to the visitors as a correct score prediction.
