Brondby vs AaB Predictions

Brondby could claim the top of the Superliga on the final day if they can beat AaB at home on Monday night and league leaders Midtjylland drop points in their own backyard against Horsens. Neither Brondby’s nor Midtjylland’s final day opponents can alter their league positions in the final game of the campaign, and the two hosts are huge favourites to take all three points. Brondby have put in plenty of effort this season and no matter what happens, they can be proud of their achievements.

When Brondby and AaB last clashed back in April, the hosts from Aalborg were convincingly beaten by their title chasing guests. All three of the games goals went to Brondby, with each arriving during the first forty-five minutes. Larsson broke the deadlock in the twenty-first minute and teammate Wilczek doubled the visitors advantage ten minute before the break. Finnish international and former Celtic striker Pukki added the third and final goal of the game in the forty-first minute, to which AaB had no reply. The hosts managed to shut up shop in the second half, but were helped by the Brondby players who took their foot off the gas. Insult was added to injury in stoppage time when AaB defender Okore, once of Aston Villa, was shown a straight red card.

Brondby are big favourites with the book makers to take all three points on Monday night, and the hosts also claim the title of form favourites after picking up three wins, two draws, and just one solitary defeat in their last six matches. The home side know that all they can do is win this game and hope that the league leaders slip up in their final game of the season, and a quick glance at AaB recent results suggests Brondby will complete their task. AaB have won just one of their last six games, drawing twice, and losing on the other three occasions. We’re hoping for an action packed final game of the campaign between these two sides as four of each clubs last six matches have produced over 2.5 goals. Brondby have a good record against AaB and are currently on a run of five games unbeaten against Monday’s visitors.

Pukki and Wilczek have provided the majority of the goals for the hosts this season, with the Finland striker on seventeen league goals and his Polish teammate on fourteen. AaB have failed to produce a goalscorer into double figures in the Superliga this season, but a brace for Pohl on Monday would take the Dane’s tally to ten.

We’re confident that Brondby are going to win this game and that over 2.5 goals will be scored in the process. The hosts have the best goal difference in the division which  is largely down to the performances of their front men, and it’s hard to see quite how AaB will stop their hosts on the final day. As for a final score, we’re backing Brondby to win 3-1, but it might not be enough to send them to the top of the table.

Brondby Predicted Lineup: Rønnow, Arajuuri, Röcker, Larsson, Jung, Fisker, Nørgaard, Tibbling, Mukhtar, Pukki, Wilczek.

AaB Predicted Lineup: Rinne, Ahlmann, Okore, Blåbjerg, Kusk, Lesniak, Børsting, Christensen, Pedersen, Pohl, Šafranko.
