Brondby vs Braga Predictions

Brondby sit third in the Superliga after making a positive start to the new season, while Braga return to Primeira Liga action this weekend. These two sides have never met before but the stats suggest we will be in for a tight and tense ninety minutes between the pair on Thursday night.

Brondby and Braga have only won two of their last six matches in all competitions, with the Danish club needing extra time to defeat Lechia Gdansk in the last qualifying round of the Europa League. Braga enter the competition at this stage and but have only lost once in pre-season at home to Ligue 1 side Lille.

We’re backing under 2.5 goals to be scored in Thursday’s 21st leg despite the fact that Over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of Brondby’s last five matches. Three of Brondby’s last four matches have been settled by the odd goal and that 2nd leg against Lechia Gdansk finished 2-1 at the end of the ninety minutes, so the Danish club are used to playing very close and competitive matches.

Braga have failed to score in each of their last four matches and have only conceded two goals during that period. Three of those four games have seen Braga keep clean sheets and we believe the visitors will be happy with a similar result on Thursday night, even if they themselves don’t score either.

Each of those matches that Braga kept clean sheets in ended goalless, so when you balance out the Brondby goals-filled games against the very low-scoring affairs of the Portuguese side, the fact that on paper Braga are the better side, how crucial away goals are, and that there is a lot riding on this competition for both clubs financially, you start to realise just why we’re expecting a very tight and tense encounter on Thursday.

We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored in Thursday’s 1st leg and have predicted a final scoreline of 0-0 between the pair. Three of Braga’s last four matches have ended 0-0 and while the Portuguese side have struggled to find the back of the net of late they have still looked very strong defensively.

Brondby haven’t had any trouble scoring but also haven’t had any clean sheets in their last six attempts but the Danes’ defence is likely to less worked on Thursday and their attack is unlikely to get as many chances as they have been against lesser European opposition in earlier qualifying rounds or even that of the quality of opponent they face week in week out in the Superliga.
