Burnley vs Liverpool Predictions

• Liverpool have lost just one of their nine away games in the league (W4, D4).
• Burnley have the worst home record in the Premier League, losing eight of their nine games so far.
• Six of the Clarets’ eight home losses have been by two or more goals.

Reds a step too far for Burnley

Burnley claimed an important three points at Fulham on Saturday but they will struggle to back that up with any kind of result against Liverpool.

The Reds fought back to earn a point against Arsenal in their game on Saturday and were perhaps unlucky not to complete the comeback and claim a win, as they arguably enjoyed the better of the chances in the second half.

A point wasn’t a bad result for Liverpool all things considered and they can take top spot with a win at Turf Moor at least temporarily, as the Gunners are next in action on Thursday.

Handicap markets appeal

Liverpool are the clear favourites to come out on top so the best option looks to be backing the visitors to cover a -1 handicap.

Burnley have the worst home record in the Premier League with just three points to show from nine games. They have lost eight of those fixtures, and six of those losses have been by two or more goals.

The Clarets impressed at Fulham but also rode their luck a bit as the Cottagers were the team in the ascendancy until Wilson Odobert’s opener. If Liverpool are able to dominate early on they should be able to take their chances and can win in east Lancashire with room to spare.

Don’t rule out a Burnley goal

Burnley have at least been scoring at home and they may be able to get on the scoresheet here as they have hit 10 goals in nine home games so far. Admittedly five of those did come against Sheffield United, but they’ve also tended to fare better going forward against the league’s big guns and have scored when hosting Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham.

Liverpool have managed just one clean sheet on their travels across all competitions this season so could concede on Boxing Day, so a 3-1 win for the visitors looks a reasonable correct score prediction as Jurgen Klopp’s men are scoring on average over two goals per-game.

Mohamed Salah was on target against Arsenal and has three goals in his last four games. The Egyptian is a short price to score at Turf Moor but he is still a backable scorer given his current form.
