      Burton Albion vs Luton Predictions

It does look like Luton are going to lift the League One title in a few weeks, though they have given a glimmer of hope to the few teams behind them in recent weeks. Having drawn at home against lowly AFC Wimbledon last time out, the Hatters will be hoping to regain the winning thread, which depending on other results, could see them crowned as champions.

Prior the Easter weekend, Burton looked as though they were set to finish the season strong; they got the better of Scunthorpe in convincing style and were easy on the eye in doing so. They did play well against Portsmouth on Good Friday, though a lack of solidity at the death (plus a touch of controversy) meant that they had nothing to show for their efforts, while they were poor away against Southend last time out.

They can most certainly be forgiven for losing late on against Portsmouth, though it’s hard to make excuses for the Brewers’ efforts at Roots Hall last time out. Against a weak Southend side, they were bettered in all areas, as they conceded three goals, shipped 2.2 expected goals for and clocked just 0.79. They’ll need to do better to get anything from a match against Luton, that’s for sure.

The Hatters may have failed to beat Wimbledon on Tuesday evening, which on the face of it looks bad, though they certainly didn’t play poorly. Against a side full of fighting spirit, Luton were on the front foot, while they created plenty, but once they were level, they were unable to find a way to get the job done. That said, the fact that they clocked 4.1 expected goals for and emerged with an expected goal difference of +2.5 is positive.

In the betting, Luton are of course massive favourites, though siding with the visitors makes little appeal. There also appears to be little value in taking them at the current prices. Instead, ‘Both Teams to Score’ stands out as a viable option.

For all Burton were poor last time out, they still scored two goals, while they’ve certainly made a habit of scoring at home of late, as they’ve notched no less than 12 goals in their last four at Pirelli Stadium. Likewise, Luton have made light work of scoring goals on the road in recent weeks. Add in the fact that Burton average 1.61 expected goals for at home and the fact that the Hatters average 1.66 on their travels and a bet on both to find the net on Saturday makes plenty of appeal.
