Burton Albion vs Norwich Predictions

Norwich look to be over their real rocky patch now with some much more encouraging recent performances and results. They come here as firm favourites but still have a tendency to concede goals so it seems likely that both teams will be on target here.

Burton continue to flirt with danger but are picking up just enough wins to keep their heads above water. They’ve lost 9 of their last 12 league games overall but have picked up a couple of key wins in their last 4 outings, to offer renewed hope that they can survive their first ever season in the Second tier of English football.

One concern though is their inability to keep clean sheets. They’ve conceded at least once in all of their last 15 league games, which points strongly to the likelihood that a free-scoring Norwich side will net at least once here. However, at the other end Burton have just enough about them to pose a few problems of their own and both teams have scored in 55% of their Championship games this term.

Further encouragement for Burton’s attacking players comes from Norwich’s defensive record. The Canaries have let in 1.88 goals per game on their travels and have kept a clean sheet in just 12% of their away games. They have only won 1 of their last 12 away matches in all competitions, which makes you think twice about backing Norwich in the ‘Full Time Result’ market, particularly at odds as short as 10/11.

Their attacking threat has been impressive of late though. They’ve netted 9 goals in their last 3 league games and average 1.78 goals per game in the Championship this term, a record only leaders Newcastle can better. They have several players who offer a goal threat but Cameron Jerome is the most consistent of them. He has netted in 4 of his last 7 league appearances and backing Jerome to score anytime at 13/8 could be well worth a punt here.

Norwich’s defence is prone to lapses in concentration though and given how rarely they are making it through 90 minutes without conceding, backing Both Teams to Score at 5/6 looks like an appealing bet here and that has been the case in 3 of Burton’s last 4 outings too.
