Bury vs Carlisle Predictions

Lincoln City may currently hold the top spot of League Two, but they have not looked invincible and there is plenty for the chasing pack to be encouraged about. Two of the sides who may fancy a shot at the title, although most expect it to be beyond their reach, meet this weekend in League Two as Bury welcome Carlisle United to Gigg Lane.

The hosts have been excellent in front of their own fans in the early stages of the campaign and they have won three and drawn one of their opening four matches on home soil. The good news does not stop there though, as they also come into this match having claimed the victory in each of their previous three league matches. It should not come as a surprise that they have been able to be so successful, as they have managed to hit the back of the net nine times in those same three matches, and at an average of three goals per game it is a return which would be expected to win any match.

Making the trip to Gigg Lane is a Carlisle side who have had a pretty mixed bag under their new manager, John Sheridan. The Cumbrian outfit are far from off the pace though and currently sit level on points with their hosts this weekend. Their position in the table is only made to look worse as a result of their inferior goal difference, an issue they will surely be looking to address this weekend.

Although the home side have been in excellent shape in recent outings and are strong on home soil, the visitors have also proven themselves to be more than capable of upsetting the apple cart this season. This makes the win-draw-win market one to avoid in our opinion. Instead, we think the combination of the home teams free scoring nature combined with the fact that there has often been plenty of goals when these sides have met in the past, means that backing there to be over 2.5 goals scored looks to be the way to go in this fixture.
