Bury vs Northampton Predictions

So the end of the season is almost here, but before we can all take a much needed break there is still three rounds of fixtures left to play and, in League Two, there is still plenty left to be decided. This Easter Monday sees another essential match at Gigg Lane as cash-strapped Bury look to boost their bid for the automatic promotion places when they face off against a Northampton Town side who are finishing the season in pretty solid fashion.

It has not exactly been the end of the season that Bury fans will have hoped for as they have seen their club’s title challenge on the pitch go up in smoke and off the pitch the worries about the club’s future continues. The hosts go into this Monday’s match in pretty poor shape too, and the fact that they have won just one of their last six outings unsurprisingly has put their bid for automatic promotion in jeopardy. However, the free scoring hosts are just a point off the top three so all is not lost, and they know that a win of this fixture may be the springboard needed for them to end the season on a high.

Making the trip to Gigg Lane is a Northampton Town side who have little left to play for, but who have enjoyed a pretty solid run of late. The Cobblers are not mathematically out of the running for the play-offs, but with an eight point gap to make up and just nine points left to play for, they know that their hopes of playing League One football next season is as good as over.

Although the hosts come into this match in poor shape, with the goal-scoring talent in this Bury side, it is hard to imagine them failing to find the back of the net. Given the away sides recent solid form and the fact that both teams have scored in 62% of their matches this season, including each of their last five, we think that backing both teams to score in this match represents the best opportunity for a decent return.
