Bury vs Tranmere Predictions

As we enter into the busy festive period, there are plenty of sides who are looking to build some momentum for the hectic schedule to allow them to get on top in League Two. Two sides who have been going well for the first half of the campaign come face to face on Saturday afternoon as Bury welcome Tranmere Rovers for a vital clash at Gigg Lane.

Bury suffered their first defeat in seven League Two matches last weekend when they lost 4-2 to Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park and they will be determined to bounce back at the earliest opportunity. Despite taking a while to recover from their relegation from League One, their recent form certainly suggests they are more than capable of earning an immediate return to England’s third tier. If they are to accomplish this aim then they are going to have to maintain an offensive output which has seen them score an impressive 18 times in their previous six league matches.

Tranmere Rovers could leapfrog Bury and move up to fourth in League Two if they claim all three points on their trip to Gigg Lane. However, whilst they may be up there with some of the best home teams in the division, their form on the road leaves a lot to be desired and they have lost their previous four matches away from home in the league. It perhaps should not come as a shock that they have lost so frequently on the road as they concede at regular intervals and they have conceded two goals or more in each of their last four away matches.

The attacking output of Bury certainly shows us where the value lies in this fixture as we fully expect them to approach this match looking to get on the front foot. However, their opponents ability to find the back of the net should not be underestimated and although they have lost their last four matches, they have at least scored in each of those matches. With this in mind, we think that backing both teams to score represents the best value.

We are not done there though, as although we think backing both teams to score represents the best opportunity of a decent return, we believe there is further profit to be made. The hosts have been so strong of late and they go into this match with something to prove following their defeat last weekend. When you consider Tranmere’s away form, we think that backing a home win with a both teams to score bet is an excellent way to boost the return on offer.
