CA Aldosivi vs San Lorenzo Predictions

Sunday’s Superliga Argentina sees Aldosivi going up against San Lorenzo. The hosts arrive as slight favourites and will be looking claim all 3 points to help keep them well clear of relegation.

After securing an immediate return to the top flight last season, Aldosivi’s only goal this campaign is to remain in the Superliga and the side have certainly made good start towards achieving that. Having taken 19 points from 13 games, Aldosivi are well clear of danger on the average points table with their 1.461 per game total but know that’s a figure that could plummet significantly after a couple of defeats.

As such, Los Tiburones cannot afford to rest on their laurels and arrive for Sunday’s game targeting all 3 points. A 1-0 home win over Newell’s last weekend has confidence high in home ranks coming into the game and whilst performances on the road have been far from impressive, the side look a real force at the Estadio José María Minella, having won 4 of their 6 matches there so far this season.

Meanwhile, San Lorenzo remain in very poor shape and new boss Jorge Almiron hasn’t brought about a bounce that most expected. Last weekend’s scheduled derby with Huracan was postponed due to the incidents in the River v Boca match, but Almiron has thus far overseen a goalless draw at Velez and a 2-0 home defeat to Atletico Tucuman.

Said results now mean that San Lorenzo haven’t won any of their last 5 matches and more concerningly, haven’t even scored in their last 3 and that’s not a picture that looks like improving any time soon with star striker Nicolas Blandi out injured. Also without a win in 6 away matches so far this term, confidence is clearly low and visiting ranks and El Ciclon appear unlikely to improve upon their poor 21st place standing in this trip.

Ultimately, whilst San Lorenzo’s weight carries far more weight than Aldosivi’s and most of the rest of the division, the visitors are a weak outfit at the moment, with their squad a shadow of that of recent year’s gone by.

Aldosivi certainly have no reason to be apprehensive going into the fixture and at current prices, we feel that backing them on the Draw No Bet line looks an excellent way to play. They’ve won the last two meetings between the two, have won 3 of their last 4 home matches and with San Lorenzo in awful form and weak on the road, we think the hosts could well run out 2-0 winners.
