Cambridge United vs Tranmere Predictions

The battle for survival in League Two has plenty more twists and turns to come before the season reaches its conclusion, and with plenty of sides still involved, it promises to be entertaining whatever happens. This weekend sees Cambridge United look to take a step closer to securing their status in the Football League when they face off against recently promoted Tranmere Rovers.

Since their 6-0 hammering by MK Dons on New Year’s Day, Cambridge United have won four of their five League Two games and their prospect of survival in the Football League is all of a sudden looking a whole lot brighter. The hosts still have work to do, but they have opened up a seven point lead over the bottom two and with a game in hand to boot, they have certainly laid some solid foundations.

Much of their recent success has come thanks to their improvements in front of goal, and one man who has profited from this is striker David Amoo. The 27-year-old may only have scored four times this term, but he has found his shooting boots of late and has scored three times in his previous five appearances. With this in mind, we think that backing him to score anytime against Tranmere this weekend makes perfect sense.

Tranmere Rovers brought their three-game losing streak to a halt with a 2-0 victory over Stevenage at Prenton Park last weekend and they will be hoping to make it back to back wins in a bid to boost their play-off hopes. However, if Rovers are to finish the season in the top seven, then they will have to improve an away record which has seen them win just three times on their travels.

The hosts go into this match playing some of their best football of the season and knowing that they have been typically much stronger on home soil. When you combine the fact that the visitors have struggled on their travels this term, we think that backing a home win represents the best opportunity for a decent return.
