Cambuur Leeuwarden vs FC Oss Predictions

After losing four of their first five matches in 2019, Oss have hit back over the past fortnight to record consecutive victories in Eerste Divisie. Monday night’s slender 1-2 win at Jong Utrecht bumped TOP back into the Play-off places, and Klaas Wels’ charges will look to solidify their position on match day 27 when they make the trip to Leeuwarden to face a Cambuur side that have fallen to 15th in the table.

Oss supporters will be feeling much happier after seeing their team claim a maximum six points over the last two weeks, but narrow wins against 17th placed Telstar (1-0) and bottom side Jong Utrecht (1-2) don’t quite match the heights that Oss achieved earlier in the campaign.

With a place in the top 11 likely to be good enough for a Play-off berth this term, Oss have a few points in hand over the chasing pack with 12 fixtures remaining, but they’ll need to improve significantly if they are to have a serious say in the battle for promotion.

Oss have generally been at their best on the road this season with victories against the likes of MVV (0-2), Twente (0-1) and Go Ahead Eagles (0-1) on their dance card, and they go in search of win number eight on their travels this Friday against Cambuur.

TOP will be seeking revenge for a 1-3 defeat suffered against the Leeuwarden outfit at Frans Heesen Stadion back in August, and could make their odds of around 3/1 look rather silly, with the hosts currently struggling.

Cambuur resumed promisingly after the Christmas break with a 3-3 draw at home to Sparta Rotterdam and a 0-1 success away at Helmond Sport, but Rene Hake’s side have since endured a run of five matches without a win.

Last week’s 1-3 defeat at home to 17th placed Dordrecht was a pretty shoddy effort as they succumbed to two stoppage time goals from Schappenkoppen, and they go into this Friday’s encounter in search of their first victory at Cambuurstadion since 2nd November, having failed to win their last seven outings in Leeuwarden.

That raises questions as to why Cambuur are odds-on favourites for this contest, even before we consider that the hosts are seven places and seven points worse off than their opponents in 15th.

So whilst the visitors still have plenty to do to prove that they have turned the corner, they are definitely worth chancing here for small stakes at the prices. Cambuur do have August’s 1-3 triumph and the fact they have won four of the last six meetings between the pair in their favour, but Oss have won seven of their 13 away games this term and can emerge victorious via a 1-2 scoreline.
