Out of form Carlisle United host promotion rivals Luton Town in League Two on Tuesday night. Our preview looks at some of the best betting tips and gives some predictions below.

Luton League Two

Reason For Carlisle vs Luton Betting Tips

It’s a clash of two of the top teams in League Two when Carlisle host Luton on Tuesday night and we are backing the visitors to add a vital three points to their promotion challange. An away win is priced at 11/8 with bet365. For our correct score tip we think the hosts recent dry spell in front of goal will continue so we are going with a 2-0 Luton win at 11/1 with the same site.

After going so long undefeated at the start of the campaign, Carlisle’s season has taken a turn for the worse and four defeats in a row has seen them slip out of the automatic promotion spots and into the clutches of the chasing pack. The Cumbrians have never been known for a strong defence and they have relied on their ability to outscore the opposition. With the loss of top scorer Charlie Wyke back on Deadline Day to Bradford they have found goals a bit harder to come by, a fact that has been highlighted by the present run of four games without finding the back of the net.

After an excellent run in the Checkatrade Trophy, Luton find themselves playing catch-up and have a hectic schedule planned over the coming weeks. Despite the loss to fellow play-off contenders Stevenage at the weekend they still have a strong squad and, on paper at least, plenty of strength in depth. The Hatters currently sit in the play-off places but they will not want to leave anything to chance so will be chasing down the third automatic promotion spot recently vacated by Tuesday night’s hosts.

Head to Head

Luton have the edge in the head to head between these two sides with a record of 11 wins, nine draws and seven defeats. When the sides met earlier in the campaign it finished all square after a 1-1 draw.

Carlisle Team News

Carlisle Team Badge James Bailey was sent off in Saturday's loss to Cambridge and starts a three-game ban and with Jabo Ibehre and Mike Jones both suffering injuries in that game the Cumbrians look like they will have a depleted squad for the visit of Luton. They are already without Jamie Devitt, Macauley Gillesphey, Jason Kennedy, Shaun Miller and Michael Raynes so the latest absentees leaves boss Keith Curle with little options against their promotion rivals.

Luton Team News

Luton Team Badge Scott Cuthbert hurt his hamstring against Stevenage on Saturday and is highly unlikely to be risked. Dan Potts managed just 45 minutes in that same match on his return so Town will have to assess his match fitness.
