Carlisle vs MK Dons Predictions

Since the calendar ticked over into 2019, probably the pick of all the sides in League Two in terms of their form has been Carlisle United, but they will know that they will have to maintain this form until the end of the campaign if they are to achieve their aim of winning promotion to League One. This weekend they host the MK Dons, who themselves are hunting for promotion, with both sides knowing that three points will go a long way to accomplishing their goals.

Carlisle United have won eight of their last 11 League Two matches but find themselves looking for a victory after they failed to secure the three points in their last two games. The Cumbrians will be unhappy that they were not able to perform at a higher standard in their 2-1 defeat away at Crewe Alexandra last time out, and with that result following a 1-1 draw with Exeter, their spot in the top seven is once again looking to be pretty precarious.

Since their 6-0 win over Cambridge United on New Year’s Day Milton Keynes Dons have won two and lost five of their seven games and, despite once challenging for the League Two title, they have dropped off the pace and are now struggling to retain a spot in the end of season play-offs. A major part of their troubles has been their recent inability to keep the ball out of the net, and their previous four games has seen them concede seven times. However, all is not lost and their 1-0 win away at Newport shows that the side are perfectly capable of turning their recent form on its head.

The hosts may go into this match fully expecting to earn the three points, but their opposition can be dangerous, even if their recent form does not suggest this. With both sides gunning for promotion and knowing that a win is essential to their chances, we think they will both approach the game with an attacking mindset. With this in mind, we think that backing both teams to score is the way to go in this one.
