Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Celta Vigo have seen both teams score in eight of their last 11 games, including four in a row at home, while they have also netted in each of their eight fixtures at Balaidos this season. Villarreal meanwhile have seen both teams scoring in all of their four games since the World Cup, while keeping just two clean sheets in their last seven away matches on the road

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Celta Vigo have scored exactly once in eight of their last ten La Liga matches, but equally kept only three clean sheets, with two of those clashes ending 1-1. Villarreal meanwhile have conceded exactly once in four of their last six in the league, while also netting at least once in four of those clashes

Celta Vigo vs Villarreal Predictions

  • Eight of Celta Vigo’s last 11 matches have seen both teams score
  • Both teams have netted in each of Villarreal’s four games since the World Cup
  • Vigo are without a win in four at home

Will Celta Vigo kick-on?

Celta Vigo picked up a confidence boosting 1-0 victory against Elche last time out, ending a run of eight La Liga games without a win that had seen them slip down the tbale.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side kept only two clean sheets during that nine match stretch, with six of those clashes seeing both teams score, including four in a row at home.

They are struggling at Balaidos, though, where they have managed only two victories in eight attempts, despite scoring in each of their outings there.

Villarreal in great form

Villarreal on the other hand have been terrific of late, winning three times in four games since the World Cup, although both have scored in all of those fixtures.

New boss Quique Setién is certainly having an impact following the departure of Unai Emery, including picking up a 1-0 victory at Espanyol in their last away league game, ending a run of six winless fixtures in the process.

They have still only netted half a dozen goals on the road, while worryingly also only only kept two clean sheets in seven.

I predict that both teams will score in this match, selecting 1-1 as a correct score prediction.
