Reason For Chesterfield vs Peterborough Betting Tips

Over the last few weeks Chesterfield have certainly begun to acquit themselves better; however, they’re in desperate need of wins and it could be a case of too little too late for the Spireites as they sit eight points from safety, despite winning and drawing in their last three. Peterborough probably waved goodbye to their play-offs dreams when losing 2-1 at home to Oxford on Saturday, but remain a decent side on their day and could quite easily get the better of this Chesterfield side.

Despite losing at the weekend Peterborough are still worth backing to come out on top here. The visitors aren’t in great form on the road right now, but they have had a tough run of games, that’s for sure. Travelling to face Millwall, Bradford and Walsall is anything but easy and it’s fancied that this is a much more winnable contest. The visitors have fared well on the road against teams lower down the table and can bounce back here.

The visitors are now unbeaten against teams from the bottom half of the table in their last six away from home, winning five of those. While they may struggle against some League One’s better sides, especially the attacking ones, Grant McCann’s men should be capable of better here. After all, Chesterfield offer little going forward and have proved easy to topple when losing heavily to some of the league’s heavy hitters.

The fact that Chesterfield are struggling to score goals could be the key here. Against a side who lack potency going forward, the visitors should be able to stamp their authority on the game, especially in the final third. Having scored just two goals in their last five at home, Chesterfield have conceded eight. Against a visiting team who can certainly score goals on their day, this could prove to be a real problem.

If the visiting side are to stand any chance of getting into the play-offs then they need to put together a strong winning run. A match against a team who’re looking relegated at this stage provides the perfect platform for Peterborough to start winning again and they’re worth backing to do so.

Head to Head

In recent times this fixture has been dominated by Tuesday’s visitors. Peterborough have won each of the last four renewals, securing a 5-2 victory earlier in the season.
