Chicago Fire vs Los Angeles FC Predictions

Defeat in midweek means Chicago Fire now sit just three points ahead of bottom club Orlando City in the Eastern Conference, while victory for LAFC last weekend saw them move to within a point of second placed Sporting KC in the Western Conference. The two sides go head to head on Saturday for the first time in their history, and its the MLS’s latest franchise that head into the game as the form favourites.

New York City ended their winless run on Thursday with a 2-0 victory at home over Chicago Fire. The visitors kicked-off, but it was David Villa for the hosts that had the games first meaningful shot on target from a long range free-kick. New York City dominated the opening forty-five minutes testing Cleveland in the Chicago goal with a couple of headers and continued to look very dangerous from set-pieces, but the teams went in goalless at the break.

Just two minutes of the second half had been played when the hosts took a deserved lead, a sloppy pass was capitalised on by New York City and a neat flick from Villa just inside the box went straight to Ring who curled a left footed shot into the far corner. Just four minutes later more good work lead to a second, killer goal, for David Villa who slotted the ball home from close range.

Ironically Chicago Fire’s only effort on goal arrived deep into stoppage time and flew over the bar, and just seconds later the final whistle sounded for what was a truly dominating display from the home side and it could well have ended in more than a 2-0 defeat for a poor Chicago Fire side.

Nikolić top scores for Chicago Fire with fourteen league goals this season and teammate Katai has eleven to his name, so it was unusual to see Chicago look so poor going forward in midweek and we’re expecting a much better attacking performance on Saturday.

A goal in each half from Zimmerman helped LAFC on their way to a comfortable 2-0 victory SJ Earthquakes last weekend, and the performance from the home side probably deserved more goals. LAFC had 52% of the possession against SJ Earthquakes, twelve corners to their guests one, and eleven shots on target to three. A similar performance on Saturday would give the newest MLS club a great chance of picking up three points and moving into second place in the Western Conference table.

Mexico’s Carlos Vela leads the way in front of gal with eleven in the MLS so far, but teammates Diomande and Rossi have chipped in with nine goals each and always carry a threat in the final third. These two clubs may never have met before, but with one fewer games played this season LAFC have fifty points on the board while Chicago Fire have just twenty eight, and with form in their favour its hard to see anything but an away win on Saturday.

We’re confident that both teams will score and over 2.5 goals will be produced in Saturday’s game, with the scoreline ending 3-2 to the visitors. Both teams have scored in three of Chicago Fire’s last six matches, while both teams have scored in three of LAFC’s last four matches. Over 2.5 goals have been produced in four of Chicago Fire’s last six matches, and with that in mind were backing this game to feature at least three goals as well.
