• Clyde began their League Cup campaign with a 1-0 home win over League Two Stranraer
• Kilmarnock won 2-0 at East Kilbride before the tie was awarded to their opponents because Killie fielded an ineligible player.
• Clyde have not won any of their last four League Cup road trips (three defeats, 1 draw) but have scored in all of them.

Killie should kick on after East Kilbride error

Kilmarnock have taken the punishment they received for fielding a suspended player in their opening Group G clash with East Kilbride on the chin, but expect Tommy Wright’s men to come roaring back.

Killie were much the better side against their Lowland League opponents and forfeiting that game leaves them with an uphill task to qualify for the second round.

Wright has completely rebuilt the squad that were relegated last season and the new players will need time to bed in.

But the visit of Clyde offers a great chance for the Championship side to show what they are all about.

The Bully Wee overcame League Two Stranraer, although it wasn’t without problems and could have been much tighter had the Stair Park side converted their opportunities.

We’re in favour of the hosts winning this by a score similar to the one they managed when taking Clyde down 2-0 at their Broadwood home last season.

But we’re expecting the League One side to notch on this occasions – as they have done in their last five League Cup away-days.
