Following the departure of a high profile manager, the pressure is always on the side who have made the decision to part company with that manager to prove they have made the right decision by turning the results on their head. Although the decision to remove Paul Scholes as manager was a decision which was made by Scholes, the pressure remains and this weekend they make the trip to face off against a Colchester United side who are still pushing for a spot in the end of season play-offs.

Following last weekends 1-0 win away Cambridge United, Colchester United find themselves on the fringes of the play-off places and just one point outside the top seven. The U’s will have been delighted to get the three points last weekend as prior to that clash, they had lost four of their previous five outings and conceded 11 times in the process. However, not only did they claim a vital win to get back on track, they managed to keep a clean sheet, which is a factor which has been essential for the success they have had this term.

With the side now firmly in the aftermath of Paul Scholes’ tenure, Oldham Athletic are keen to move on from the short time he was involved in the club as they seek to once again start scaling the football pyramid. Since his departure the players have reacted well, and Tuesday nights 2-0 victory over in-form Tranmere Rovers followed on from the 2-0 victory they managed over Grimbsy Town last weekend.

Although the hosts managed to get back on track last weekend, their form going into this match is hard to ignore. With the side not known for being high scorers, the rate at which they have conceded is an alarming turnaround and, when you also consider the upturn in form shown by Oldham of late, we think that backing them on the ‘Draw – No Bet’ option represents the best chance of a decent return.
