Colorado Rapids vs DC United Predictions

Colorado Rapids have remained competitive in the majority of their matches this season, but that first win is yet to be earned. This weekend Colorado Rapids’ defence is bound to be put under pressure once again as high flying DC United provide the opposition. However, the visitors have failed to score in any of their last two matches and will be without top scorer Rooney due to suspension.

Colorado Rapids were involved in a seven-goal thriller away at Orlando City last weekend, but ended up on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline. Kamara opened the scoring for the visitors in the ninth minute, but Orlando responded with two goals of their own and went in at the break 2-1 up. Goals in the second half from Mezquida and Bassett saw the visitors restore their one goal lead heading into the final stages of the match, but Orlando City struck twice late on to secure all three points. DC United could only manage a goalless draw at home to Montreal Impact last time out, and certainly looked a lot less threatening in the final third without Rooney. Neither side did enough to win the game and on the balance of play a draw was the fairest result, but DC need to come up with a plan of how to produce goals when their star player is unavailable.

DC United are unbeaten in their last eight matches against Colorado Rapids, and the visitors have won four of their last seven encounters against their hosts. Colorado Rapids haven lost four of their last six matches, while DC United have won three of their last six matches. DC United have kept four clean sheets in their last six matches, but are without top scorer Rooney who is suspended, so we’re not expecting many goals to be scored during the ninety minutes.
