Corinthians look to maintain title bid

A run of just one defeat in their last 13 games has helped Corinthians to second in the early-season Brazilian Serie A table, as they bid for their first league title since 2017.  Vitor Pereira’s men are yet to lose any of their five games in Sao Paulo this term, and will be hopeful of maintaining their run against a Goias side sitting in 16th place.

Pereira’s side may be just three points behind leaders Palmeiras, but their decent run of form has not been without difficulty; Corinthians have only failed to score in one of their last 10 outings, but have seen both teams score in six of their last nine as they struggle to keep clean sheets.

Goias fell to a 2-1 defeat to Internacional last time out, and sit just one point above the bottom four after a mixed start to the campaign. However, Jair Ventura’s side have seen both teams score in each of their last five games, while results against Palmeiras (1-1) and Santos (a 1-0 win in May) demonstrated their ability to compete.

Hosts can win entertaining contest

With Corinthians boasting a strong home record and undoubted attacking quality, Pereira’s side look to be worth backing to strengthen their bid at the top of Serie A. However, both teams scoring has been a theme of both sides’ recent games, so Goias could land a blow.
